Foodie Favorites in Columbus, OH

Foodie Favorites in Columbus, OH October 23, 2018 | Jhaelynn Elam

As an Ohio native who spent a couple of years in Columbus, I can definitely say that it is an underrated foodie city -- literally a hidden gem. Now that I have moved on to my next journey, there are a few places that I crave every other weekend. It would be selfish of me to not share these gems with you! *These are in no particular order*

1. Super Chefs

My number one favorite!! I not only love Super Chefs so much because of their unique theme but their food is just as one-of-a-kind. My favorite thing to order would have to be their shrimp and grits!

Plus they’re black owned – so, yeah, there’s that!

2. The Eagle

Based out of Cincinnati, this comfort food spot is a known local favorite. The reason I enjoyed the eagle so much is because I am that weird person who loves both honey and hot sauce on their chicken. At the eagle, they have a special sauce that has both of these ingredients combined! It doesn’t get any better than that. Their Mac and Cheese as well as their spoon-bread is also really good!

3. Willowbeez Soulveg

This pop-up vegan restaurant has amazing veggie based soul food options. Their Left Eye Soul Chili is delicious. Check them out on Facebook and Instagram so see when and where their next #MeatlessMonday and #FreshFriday will be!

Also black-owned !

4. Brassica

Brassica serves made-from-scratch meals inspired by eastern Mediterranean cuisine. Think about it like a chipotle but with Mediterranean food. It’s really quick service and equally good food.

5. Aab India

Indian food is for sure one of my favorite cuisines and Aab tops the list of my favorite restaurants to get it at. My favorite would have to be their Chicken Tikka Masala and samosas.

6. Thurman’s Café

Featured on man vs. food, this local favorite Hands down, has the BEST burgers in Columbus. My favorite is the Macedonian Burger, its served on Texas toast with sweet red peppers, feta cheese, lettuce, tomato, onion and mayo.

If you’re feeling really daring, try the Thurmanator .

7. Roosters

My favorite wing spot!!! I’ve had wings from a number of places but Roosters always reigns as my number 1. Majority of them can be found in southwestern Ohio, which is where I am from, but Columbus has a few locations as well.

I always order Garlic Mild wings, extra wet, all flaps (because I’m a flats kind of girl) and a half a pound of tenders dipped in Carolina Gold Sauce.

I am drooling just writing this to be honest.

8. Pistacia Vera

Macarons have become one of my favorite sweets and Pistacia Vera delivers to the fullest. I usually try a few different kinds at a time when I go. I love when they feature seasonal options – those are usually my favorite.

Xoxo
